Mid-Shore Community Foundation Names Board Members
Easton, Maryland - August 25, 2009
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation, Inc. has announced the appointment of Joseph Anthony, Lloyd “Scott” Beatty, Jr., Arthur Cecil, III, Joseph Ross, Brett Summers and Dr. Barbara Viniar to its Board of Directors.
“We are fortunate to have such a diverse and talented group of community leaders join the Board,” noted Moorhead Vermiyle, Chairman of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. “Each of these individuals brings critical areas of expertise to the Foundation as well as an extraordinary commitment to the Mid-Shore community”.
Joe Anthony is a partner in Anthony, Walter, Duncan, LLC in Easton. As a Certified Public Accountant with extensive expertise in nonprofit finance and investments, he chairs the Investment Committee. He served as Treasurer for Shore Health System and has been active on a number of nonprofit boards.
Also serving as a member of the Investment Committee on the Foundation, Lloyd L. “Scott” Beatty, Jr., is the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Shore Bancshares, headquartered in Easton. Scott has served on a number of nonprofit boards including Shore Health System, the United Fund of Talbot County, and Talbot Hospice.
Arthur Cecil is yet another active community volunteer who has joined the Board. Before retiring to the Eastern Shore in 2004, he served as an equity analyst with T. Rowe Price in Baltimore for 36 years. With his extensive experience in equity management, Arthur Cecil serves on the Investment Committee.
As a member of the Finance Committee, Joseph P. Ross, President and CEO of Shore Health System, will bring his extensive experience in financial management as well as his expertise in regional health care needs to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. He has served on the boards and executive councils of Maryland Hospital Association, Voluntary Hospitals of America and the Maryland Healthcare Education Institute, and is active in local community organizations.
Brett Summers is the founding partner of NOVO Development Corporation, a real estate development company based in Washington, D.C. NOVO acquires, renovates and manages multi-family properties in Cambridge, Chicago, Charleston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Brett is a trustee at The Country School and serves on the board of directors for Cambridge Main Street. He serves as Secretary to the Board.
As the 5th president of Chesapeake College, Dr. Barbara Viniar will add both a regional and educational perspective to the work of the Board. Prior to coming to Maryland, Dr. Viniar served as the Executive Director of the Community College Leadership Institute at Cornell University, and was President of Berkshire Community College in Massachusetts for 9 years. She serves on the Foundation’s Grants committee.
