FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (EASTON-March 3, 2011)
A new endowment fund has been established at the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to benefit the Caroline County Humane Society in perpetuity. This fund was made possible by a generous bequest from the late John “Jack” Nashold, who left his entire residual estate to establish the fund. With the sale of the remaining property in that estate now complete, the Foundation and the Caroline County Humane Society announced the creation of the fund in memory of Jack Nashold.
After retirement, Jack Nashold returned to his native Caroline County. He joined the re-formed Caroline County Humane Society Board about a year after volunteers reestablished CCHS, and later served as Vice President. Steve Vaughn, Executive Director of CCHS noted that Jack Nashold was “devoted to the support and care of animals, and as a board member he attended meetings faithfully, contributing his ideas and energy in support of CCHS.”
In addition to recruiting additional board members to CCHS, including his relatives, Jack Nashold was an advocate on behalf of the Humane Society with county officials. In that regard he was a frequent contributor to letters to the editor of the Star Democrat. That support and commitment to CCHS will now continue in perpetuity through the fund made possible by his bequest.
The Caroline County Humane Society is a non-profit organization that provides animal control services for Caroline County through a contract with county government. CCHS also provides a variety of functions and services including an adoption program for homeless dogs, cats, and other domestic animals; low cost spay/neuter clinics and programs; pet food pantry; volunteer opportunities; and education, assistance and outreach programs for the community.
The fund is open to additional contributions for the sole benefit of CCHS. For additional information, contact Robbin Hill, Director of Foundation Programs, at 410-820-8175.
