The Talbot Hospice Foundation is pleased to announce it has received three grants from the charitable funds of Mid-Shore Community Foundation. Grants were given from the MSCF Community Investment Fund, the Ferree Fund, and the Merriewold Trust. The Talbot Hospice Foundation will use these funds to support their hospice and bereavement programs.
Mid-Shore Community Foundation awards grants through a competitive application and review process. These grants are representative of the shared commitment the agencies have to area residents.
The Talbot Hospice Foundation offers hope, compassionate support and services to all members of the community facing end-of-life issues free of charge. Talbot Hospice is a non-medical hospice, and partners with Shore Home Health and Hospice which provides the nurses and medical supervision of the hospice services.
Last year the Talbot Hospice Foundation, with the help of 298 caring volunteers, delivered services to 162 hospice patients at Hospice House and in the community, as well as to 56 members of the Pathways program, a program for people with life limiting illnesses. The MSCF Community Investment Fund award will provide support for those programs.
Also, last year the Talbot Hospice Foundation provided bereavement services to 755 individuals. The Ferree Fund grant will support the Talbot Hospice Foundation’s children’s bereavement program, which also recently received support from The Easton Rotary Club.
The Merriewold Fund will provide unrestricted funds to support the Talbot Hospice Foundation’s hospice, Pathways, and bereavement programs.
“We are delighted to have the support of Mid-Shore Community Foundation and their donor advised funds,” said Julie Crocker, executive director of the Talbot Hospice Foundation. “As a private, non-profit organization that provides support and services to the community free of charge, we depend solely on the generosity of local foundations, businesses and local citizens to fund our programs.
