The Mid-Shore Community Foundation (MSCF) has announced that F. Graham Lee, president of the MSCF, will be leaving as of January 1, 2007 to take a position with the Howard Hospital Foundation in Columbia, MD. Since his arrival at MSCF in 2004, Lee has helped grow its net assets to $30 million, making the Foundation one of the largest grantmakers in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties. Prior to his position at MSCF, Lee was vice president of Fund Development at St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation in Towson, MD and of Shore Health System and the Memorial Hospital Foundation in Easton.
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation’s assets represent 130 funds, including 28 new funds that were created in FY2006. To date, 51 non-profits have created agency endowment funds through fundraising and planned giving. MSCF recognizes the importance of strong nonprofit organizations serving Mid-Shore communities and over the years, the Foundation has helped its donors create charitable gift annuities for heir agency endowment funds. Today, the MSCF holds 14 charitable gift annuities representing $2.4 million.
According to Alice Bower, chairman of MSCF’s Grants Committee, “Graham Lee has been instrumental in growing the Foundation’s grants and scholarship dollars for non-profits. In fiscal year 2006, grants and scholarships totaled $688,833 and went to 170 non-profits, up from fiscal year 2005 where $639,318 went to 150 non-profits. Since July of 2002, Mid-Shore Community Foundation has distributed more than $2.1 million in grants and scholarships to qualified non-profit organizations. This represents future financial growth for many of these non-profits.” Charles T. Capute, Esq., chairman of the Board for the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, adds, “Graham Lee has helped the Mid-Shore Community Foundation grow to new heights. Through his leadership, the organization is now poised for a bright future. He will bring years of fundraising experience to help expand the Howard Hospital Foundation and we wish him all the best in his new endeavor.”
Graham Lee and his wife, Brenda will continue to live in Easton, staying involved civically in many of the counties volunteer activities.
