The Mid-Shore Community Foundation has announced it will be assisting Talbot Bank in its efforts to help the tsunami victims in South Asia. Talbot Bank has created a fund, Tsunami Disaster Relief Efforts in South Asia, at the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to receive gifts from its employees. These gifts will be matched by the Talbot Bank Board of Directors. After all employee gifts have been received and the match donated, the bank will recommend the relief agency it wishes to support.

W. Moorhead Vermilye, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shore Bancshares, which is the parent company of The Talbot Bank, comments, “We selected the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to manage this donation because it is a platform for building community. It’s affiliation with the Council on Foundations will enable us to select the best organizations to reach the needs of the people of South Asia.”

F. Graham Lee, President of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation adds, “Mid-Shore Community Foundation is glad to be working with Talbot Bank and their employees as they raise funds for the short and long-term needs of the victims of this earthquake and tsunami. Our relationship with the Council on Foundations will enable us to share information with the bank about several reputable U.S.-based organizations that are already on the ground in South Asia helping to respond to this tragedy.”

The Mid-Shore Community Foundation, located in the historic Bullitt House in Easton, Maryland, is a tax-exempt public charity that helps individuals, families, businesses and organizations establish charitable funds to which they may contribute various assets. The Foundation is both managing funds for organizations wishing to help with the tsunami relief efforts and accepting donations to a local general fund to help these efforts.
