The Mid-Shore Community Foundation (MSCF) recently established a scholarship fund for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore that will benefit students from the Mid-Shore counties. The gift of $25,000.00 from MSCF will create scholarships for students from Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties. Each scholarship, worth $1,250.00 per year, will be renewable for up to four years. It will be awarded to one student from each of the Mid-Shore counties for fall 2007 admission, based on a combination of academic merit and financial need. Over 100 students from the five-county area currently attend UMES. The University will use the scholarship to bring a UMES degree within reach of Mid-Shore students who otherwise might not have considered it an option for them.
The MSCF connects private resources with public needs to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties, Maryland. Recently, MSCF was recognized as the first Maryland Community Foundation to achieve Confirmation of Compliance with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations.
