WOUNDED VETERANS RECEIVE LOCAL BOOST

Pictured from the left are Royce Ball and Marion Gannon, Mid-Shore Wounded Warriors Program

Wounded Veterans, injured in service to our Country, have received another “helping hand” in their fight for recovery.  On April 20th, the Mid Shore Community Foundation, MSCF, joined forces with two Easton citizens to form the “Mid Shore Wounded Veterans Fund”,

Marion Gannon and Royce Ball, both of Easton, entered into an agreement that will help to provide funding for activities designed to aid in the recovery of wounded Vets, and afford them the opportunity to venture outdoors for much needed recreation.  A Mid-Shore Wounded Veterans Committee has been formed to oversee the programs to be supported through the Fund.

The initial project, to be hosted by the Talbot Rod and Gun Club, will be a clay shoot scheduled for the early Fall. The gun club is donating the clays and the pullers for the event.  Eventually, many more outings that would include goose hunting, Chesapeake Bay excursions and other such activities will be planned.

Many organizations provide for the benefit of wounded Vets; one of the better known is the American Legions’ “Wounded Warrior” program, popular nationwide.  Many Veterans all over the Country receive benefits generated by the contributions made to projects such as “Wounded Warriors”.  What makes this unique is that through the partnership with MSCF, efforts are concentrated to benefit Vets in a five county area that encompasses Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queens Anne’s and Talbot counties”.

Funding for the scheduled Fall clay shoot will provide for transportation, lunch and ammunition costs.  Monies collected in excess of costs for this event will be applied to additional activities to benefit wounded veterans in the area.  Ball and Gannon hope that this will grow into something even bigger.  Through continued contributions and monies realized through fund raising events, they hope to expand the services this fund will provide to include meeting some of the day-to-day needs of our Veterans.

Charitable donations are being solicited from civic organizations, as well as from private individuals.  If you would like to make a charitable contribution, checks can be made payable to “Mid-Shore Wounded Veterans Fund of MSCF” and sent to 102 E. Dover St., Easton, MD  21601.  A receipt acknowledging you tax-deductible donation will be provided.  For more information you may call Royce Ball at 410.770.5778, or Marion Gannon, 410.924.5323.

The Mid-Shore community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that helps individuals, families, businesses and others accomplish their charitable giving objectives.  For more information about the MSCF, go to www.mscf.org
