The brainchild of the event co-chairs and CASA Board members Christina Hoff and Laurie Dennis, this year’s annual fundraising event celebrates the family, or ohana, of Hawaiian  culture, which encompasses those who have a common feeling of aloha and who joyfully share all that life has to offer.  Through ohana, Hawaiian society cares about the health of the community was a whole.  At CASA, we share a sense of fulfilling society’s most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect every child’s right to be safe, loved, and treated with dignity in a permanent home.

      Our annual benefit raises needed funds to support CASA’s work with children in Talbot and Dorchester Counites.  CASA volunteers are everyday citizens whom judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who are in the court system as a result of abuse or neglect.  CASA volunteers become a presence for maltreated children, providing a voice of hope, assessments, and recommendations to the court about what these children need to be safe, healthy, and happy.

       The Luau on May 19th promises to be the most colorful and dramatic event of the season.  Known for their artistic creativity and joie de vivre, Hoff and Dennis are specialists in creating the atmosphere, entertainment, and cuisine for an evening to remember.  They envision the location at Emerson Point alive with the forces of nature – earth, water, fire and sky – as the perfect backdrop for this magical event. Tiki lights will guide guests to the grassy beach overlooking the Bay at Emerson Point, while hula dancers, rhythmic drummers, powerful fire spinners, outriggers, Hawaiian music, exotic Mai Tais, and luau cuisine will be sure to delight.
