Endowment Management For The Nonprofit Community
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation advocates the formation of operational endowments for nonprofits, in order to ensure the long term success and stability of these agencies.
Endowments can help provide:
- A long-term hedge against short term extremes of the marketplace
- A financial source for existing programs while taking some pressure off of annual fund raising
- A financial source to help fund new ideas and programs
- Ultimately, long term independence for the nonprofit
What the Foundation does for the nonprofit:
- Manages the fund
- Sends acknowledgements as needed
- Oversees the fund’s investment
- Helps publicize the fund/organization
- Issues quarterly financial reports on the status of the fund
- Helps educate potential donors about giving options
