New Board Members Join Mid-Shore Community Foundation

 

E. Jean Anthony, CPA, Mark Freestate, and Hubert Wright IV, Esq. were elected to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation Board at the 2010 Annual Meeting.  Moorhead Vermilye, Chairman of the Foundation Board, welcomed the new members to the important work of the Community Foundation: “These individuals bring critical areas of expertise to the board and an exceptional record of service to their respective communities.  We are fortunate to have community leaders of this caliber join a distinguished and committed Board of Directors.”

Radcliffe Family Establishes Memorial Scholarship Fund

 

The George Radcliffe family of Dorchester County has been interested in education since Radcliffe’s ancestor John A. L. Radcliffe built a one room Victorian school, Castle Haven School, outside of Cambridge in 1870.  The school building is dedicated to its successive teachers and students.  Today, George and Jackie Radcliffe are managing the family’s farm, along with a complex of buildings on Route 343 which they have restored over the years.  The complex includes the historic Castle Haven School; the Spocott Windmill, called the “George L,” built to honor Senator George L. Radcliffe; a colonial tenant house; and a country store, which includes memorabilia about Senator Radcliffe.

2010 Chesapeake Film Festival

September 24 - 26, 2010

The Festival will once again be bringing a variety of award winning films to Easton, Maryland. The Festival will open at the Avalon Theatre with a showing of a documentary on artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Academy Art Museum will host a reception of original artwork by Basquiat prior to the showing of the film.
