The Caroline Foundation, Inc.
The Caroline Foundation benefits and provides economic support
to organizations that provide medical and/or health-related services
to residents of Caroline County, Maryland.
The citizens of Caroline County recognized the need for a nursing home and had a vision, with support from the Caroline County Government, the Caroline Nursing Home was created/incorporated in 1967. In 2000, the Gables and the Caroline Foundation were created/incorporated to address additional needs.
In 2015, under the direction of the Caroline Foundation Board, the Caroline Nursing Home and the Gables were sold to a privately owned company specializing in health management. All proceeds from the sale are owned and invested by the Caroline Foundation, to be distributed as grants to charitable organizations that provide medical and/or health-related services to residents of Caroline County, Maryland.
In 2016, the Caroline Foundation and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation entered into a management agreement. The Mid-Shore Community Foundation provides accounting services, marketing support and manages the grantmaking process on behalf of the Caroline Foundation. Through this collaboration, the Caroline Foundation is able to minimize administrative expenses, while maximizing the effectiveness of their grantmaking.
Apply for a Grant
The Caroline Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations that provide medical and/or health-related services to residents of Caroline County. There is one grant cycle per year and the deadline for submission is July 1st. To apply, download and complete the application. Completed applications should be returned via mail to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation at 102 East Dover Street, Easton, Maryland 21601.
